Planning board

Planning board: jobs that update themselves in preparation

No more ringing round to ask how far along someone is. The planner assigns a job to a vehicle, and from then on the vehicle keeps the board up to date.

What the planning board solves

Who it's for
Companies that allocate jobs, trips or deliveries to vans and trucks every day: transport, construction, installation and service.
What it solves
No more ringing round to ask how far along someone is. The planner assigns a job, with its loading and unloading addresses, to a vehicle. From then on the vehicle keeps the board up to date: when the van arrives at the loading address, the job switches to in progress. While it is stationary there, the status is loading. When it drives off, it switches to driving, and so on until the last address. You see at a glance what is planned, what is under way and what is done. All the driver has to do is tap Done in the app at the end.

How the board updates itself

Every loading and unloading address is a geofence on the map. What the vehicle does there sets the status.

  1. The vehicle arrives at the addressThe job switches to in progress.
  2. The vehicle is stationary thereThe status is loading or unloading.
  3. The vehicle drives offThe status switches to driving, and so on until the last address.
  4. DoneAt the end, the driver taps Done in the app, or the planner marks the job as done.

The map also shows which van is closest to a job.

Frequently asked questions

Does the driver have to update their status all day?

No. The vehicle keeps the board up to date: arriving, loading or unloading, and driving off are all recorded automatically. The driver only taps Done in the app at the end.

How does the planning board know a van is at an address?

Every loading and unloading address is a geofence on the map. When the vehicle enters it, the job switches to in progress; while it is stationary there, the status is loading; when it drives off, it switches to driving.
